Why Join a Genealogical Society
From Bluegrass Roots V 30-4

Local societies are excellent places to find information on regional records and their availability. This is often difficult to find otherwise.

Many society quarterlies and newsletters publish local public and private records that may not be available in any other form to those living at a great distance.

Societies often maintain collections of books, manuscripts, newspapers, clippings, local genealogists'notes, photos, etc that may be helpful in researching and may include items specific to that geographic area.

Using newsletters and members is a great way to meet new researchers! Cousin!! Life-long friends-- -even if we never meet!
